invisible cursor bar

Bug Description

Since the latest apt-get dist-upgrade, the cursor bar of ubuntu's gfxboot theme is not visible any more. I have a single block cursor at the end of where the bar used to be, so its possible to select items, but that's very un-intuitive.

Has anyone else got the problem?

I am using a Dell Latitude X1.

I'm very confused about your report. Our gfxboot theme is only used for the CD boot loader on the install and live CDs. An apt-get dist-upgrade couldn't possibly affect either of those.

Could you describe what you see more precisely, and whether you're doing anything unusual (like applying extra patches to grub to use gfxboot there)?

Then I probably chose the wrong package to file this bug against. What I mean is the boot loader (grub), where I can select the different Dapper kernels installed (and Breezy). Since some weeks it is graphical (I can see the Ubuntu logo). I am not aware of any patch/configuration that could possibly lead to this behaviour. The only thing is I am currently trying out Xgl on that installation, but that should not affect the boot loader?

I'm sorry for the package confusion. Maybe its better to leave the package empty if I'm not absolutely sure?

That was changed to be graphical a week or two ago, and then reverted to text-only shortly afterwards after it became clear that it broke many machines; however at present we don't undo the change to graphical mode on systems that were installed with or upgraded via this change. I don't know if anything can easily be done about that without adversely affecting those who chose to enable the graphical splash for themselves.

In Dapper Flight 5, the problem is not there any more.
