update-grub uses commented out groot statement

Bug Description

Ubuntu 7.10 (gutsy)

The following commented out grub option still has an effect on the root device which is actually used:

# groot=(hd1,0)

Running update-grub, I get (hd1,0) in all menu.lst root statements. If I change this to (hd0,0), each root is changed to (hd0,0), as if the statement is not commented out at all.

This statement should have no effect whatsoever.
