Bug Description
Binary package hint: grub2
installing natty on an efi system nothing suggests grub-install needs the efi partition mounted as /boot/efi and nothing suggests either the user it failed until one reboots and ubuntu does not boot.
the magic behind /boot/efi isn't documented anywhere either leading to huge frustration to users.

Which install method are you using (desktop/ server/ alternate CD, netboot, USB) and which architecture? Did you boot into UEFI mode to install?
I'm not sure that "the process is not adequately documented" is grub's fault - see https:/ /help.ubuntu. com/community/ UEFIBooting for a great deal of info on setting up grub with Ubuntu.
