Bug Description

Binary package hint: base-installer

I performed an install of 10.04.1 server to a system with a serial console by adding 'console=tty console=ttyS1,115200n8' to the kernel command line. The installation proceeded correctly, however on first boot, the grub2 configuration lacked these options resulting in no serial console output.

This issue appears to be similar to launchpad bug 524637, so maybe the package should have been 'grub-installer' instead of 'base-installer'

Colin Watson (cjwatson) wrote :

Yes, base-installer is just the installer component that installs the base system and the kernel. For generic "don't know exactly where these live" installer bugs, debian-installer is a better target.

Could you please attach /etc/default/grub and /var/log/installer/syslog?
