Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubiquity

It would be nice if the normal Ubuntu installation could use the 2-pass approach using grub4dos from wubi, to avoid messing the the MBR/Windows bootloader...

I've marked this as triaged/wishlist, but this is pretty unlikely to happen; I do not want to deal with grub4dos outside very confined situations since it's never going to be a properly supported option with GRUB upstream, and in general I would much rather ensure that Windows can be booted successfully from Ubuntu's boot loader rather than making Ubuntu secondary to Windows' boot loader. Sorry.

Changed in ubiquity (Ubuntu):
importance: Undecided → Wishlist
status: New → Triaged
affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu) → grub-installer (Ubuntu)

Thanks for triaging this issue. (wow, Colin Watson! ;)

No problem, I was just thinking in a way to lower the risk of doing a
non-wubi install (to regain the disk performance) to users newbier
than me, and do the least disturbance in the Windows installation/boot
process.
(As for me, I don't even use Windows currently and have been only
casual user for a long time ;)
