Binary package hint: linux-image-
Ubuntu 9.10 default installation uses Grub 2.0 which is configured using the /boot/grub/menu.cfg but new kernel installation tries to find and modify /boot/grub/menu.lst and thus fails.

There are 2 outcomes to this bug:
1) Deny apt-get/aptitude the right to create the new menu.lst file and thus have an unconfigured package forever.
2) Authorize apt-get/aptitude to create the menu.lst file and thus configure the package correctly, then delete the file and manually adjust grub.cfg.
