Bug Description

Installer crashed during System Installation, at the point when language packs were being installed.

No problem with partitioning.
I am trying to install the above RC version on a disk which has Windows 2K Pro:
hdc1 = Windows 2K Partition # 1
hdc3 = Windows partition #2
hdc4 = Windows partition #3
hdc5 = Linux root partition
hdc6 = Linux Swap
hdc7 = Linux home

This is similar to bug # 46764, whicht refers to Kubuntu 6.06-rc-desktop installation.
The same message appears . Refer to it for details, please.

Please attach your /var/log/installer/syslog to this bug; it may not be the same issue.

Hello Colin,
I am sure that this bug, although similar to bug # 46764, involves the Ubuntu installer.
The installation crashed when it was about 90% done.

I couldn't save the message warning, so I quoted the one in bug # 46764.
But where can I find my /var/log/installer/syslog and
/var/log/partman ?
I am not very experienced in Linux, and I surely like to help.
May I also mention that the installation process was very slow in Kubuntu, although Ubuntu seemed less tedious.
     Regards, Don

We're sorry; the installer crashed. Please file a bug report at https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+filebug and a developer will attend to the problem as soon as possible. To help the developers understand what went wrong, include the following detail in your bug report, and attach the files /var/log/installer/syslog and /var/log/partman:

OK, thanks for the logs. This is indeed the same issue as bug 46764, although I needed the logs to be sure. As a workaround, don't use XFS for your root filesystem, or else create a non-XFS /boot partition. grub has trouble installing reliably to XFS on many systems.
