I have now have ubuntu and win 10 dual boot working. I did a BIOS update. Then it just worked. Who knows what the problem was. Thanks for your time and help.

To get a working dual boot, you have to install both operating systems in the same mode.
Of course, if you have a lot of time and patience, you can reinstall Windows. Reinstalling Ubuntu in the same mode as Windows is normally the faster way.
