Bug Description

Installing Ubuntu on compaq cq58 from uefi live session, grub uefi package(grub-efi-amd64) failed to install.

If you have a Windows installed on the disk, you have to boot the installer in BIOS mode for a dualboot.

If you do not have Windows, either you start the installer in BIOS mode or create an EFI-System-Partition.
