You have not explained the steps followed to install ubuntu. cdimage. ubuntu. com/netboot/ xenial/
But UbiquityPartman.txt shows a sdc ext4 partition: so grub should not met a problem to install it on /dev/sdc (which you need to select yourself when the installer ask for the place).
The other partitions are ntfs: indeed grub cant be installed there, nor installation cant be made from a windows system.
First clean the windows system, defrag it, then make room on the hdd/sdd and cleanly organize the free space (contiguous free space).
You need to boot from an ubuntu iso (on usb stick for example: the mini.iso is my best choice)
