Bug Description

Binary package hint: debian-installer

I've just done a Gutsy installation to a pair of mirrored disks. It all went fine, but when it installed GRUB on the MBR, it only put it on the first of the two disks - this means if the first disk fails, the machine won't boot.

I had to type the appropriate GRUB commands as shown in the last section of https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/RAID1 to get GRUB on the second disk's MBR; I'd prefer the installer to offer to do this itself.

It is the same thing in Hardy Heron, however this is not a true bug but a wishlist request that I also think it's fundamental to offer a powerful installation procedure.

Thanks for your report. This is also bug 33649, fixed in Ubuntu 8.10.

Changed in debian-installer:
importance: Undecided → Medium
status: New → Triaged
