Ubuntu 12.04 LTS installation crashes with grub installation error ( UEFI and GPT partition type)

Bug Description

I have windows 8 as default OS on my HP machine..It came preinstalled..I have UEFI firmware, and the hard disk partitions are of GPT type. I disabled the secure boot, enabled legacy boot, and tried installing 64-bit 12.04 LTS..however, the installation crashed at almost the end, with an error : "unable to install grub in target".
