Bug Description

Play/Pause button kills app. Also, sometimes the stop button. A CD does not need to be in the player for this behavior to be seen.

This is in dapper with package 3.3.1-4. Also tried going back to 3.3.1-2 but it displayed the same bug. I don't think this bug was there when I ran breezy.

(I can't reproduce the problem here with grip 3.3.1-4 x86, with or without a CD in the drive)

When started from the command line I get the following message when I click on the play/pause button:
Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_widget_hide: assertion `GTK_IS_WIDGET (widget)' failed

I just tried this on another computer also running dapper and got the same message from both the play/pause button AND the stop button.

I will recompile a debug version and post a backtrace here when I get a chance.

I have this same problem with grip 3.3.1-4 on dapper. Pressing play/pause/stop crashes the app with the message: (grip:10689): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_widget_hide: assertion `GTK_IS_WIDGET (widget)' failed

Same problem here. Was happening when I had Dapper, still happening in Edgy. I attached the crashlog "Bug Buddy" generated.

I also got the following when starting from the command line:

(grip:8334): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_widget_hide: assertion `GTK_IS_WIDGET (widget)' failed

But it seemed to be due to my manually setting
"play_on_insert 1" in my ~/grip file (trying to stop play on
insert), either deleting ~/.grip or reverting my change
fixed the problem.

I had play_on_insert at 0, but I tried removing ~/.grip and it worked, Grip no longer crashes. Oddly enough, Grip isn't giving me any sound when I hit play, but it certainly doesn't crash on Play/Pause button either.

I attached my old ~/.grip. I tried moving it back, and it crashed on Play/Pause again. There's certainly something about it that's causing the crash. Not sure what, or how I can get sound with a default generated ~/.grip. Dunno if my lack of sound is related to the crashing, or if it's just something I need to troubleshoot.

Is this symptom reproducible in current 8.04 and/or 8.10 alpha?

I have been unable to make grip crash in 8.04. FWIW I always turn play on insert "off" when using grip. It works fine now. I would consider the bug fixed. Thanks.
