Bug Description

Binary package hint: graphviz

The graphviz version packaged in Karmic/Lucid is 2.20 which is outdated. The latest stable version contains useful bug fixes. For example, the following link indicates graphviz 2.20 returns a lost edge error that is not seen in newer versions: https://mailman.research.att.com/pipermail/graphviz-interest/2008q3/005613.html.

I am able to replicate this bug:

:~/dot_test$ dot -V
dot - Graphviz version 2.20.2 (Wed Sep 16 11:12:21 UTC 2009)
:~/dot_test$ dot -T png tPA_plot.dot -o tPA_plot.png
Error: lost c d edge

I can verify that the resulting .png file (uploaded) is missing edge c d

I can work-around this issue by installing the debs from the graphviz site:
http://www.graphviz.org/Download_linux_ubuntu.php

but this is inconvenient. A new graphviz version would be great.

I'm getting lost edges quite frequently (seems to be related to edges not used in ranking ([constraint=false]). Considering that lucid is a LTS release, it would be nice to see this fixed also in lucid, not only in future releases.

@timobaumann: agreed!
I suffer from the same bug. Works on Debian 4, Ubuntu 10.04 LTS loses the edges, works again on Ubuntu 10.10. It would be very much appreciated to get GraphViz 2.26 in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS.
