Hi,

While doing some bug cleanup, I found this old bug. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner.

Looking at the terminal log, the error reported by the gpsd service is "ERROR: can't run with neither control socket nor devices" which could mean that the $GPSD_OPTIONS $DEVICES are not set properly according to your device or that the GPS device is not working properly.

To check the device, you can use the following command as per the instructions given by upstream here [1]:

stty -F /dev/ttyXXX ispeed 4800 && cat </dev/ttyXXX

replacing ttyXXX with the filename of the port.

Also, could you please share your /etc/default/gpsd file to check the configuration?

I'm setting the status to Incomplete until that information is provided. Please, set it as New again when you submit it/reply to this bug.

Thanks!

Hi again,

Unfortunately, Ubuntu 18.04 (bionic) reached end-of-standard-support on May 31, 2023. Please, see this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases

Due to the above, I'm afraid this bug can't be fixed. Therefore, I'm marking this bug as "Won't fix".
