gparted (Ubuntu)

Bug Description

Binary package hint: gparted

When i try to start gparted from console i get:

kamil@kamil-desktop:~$ gksudo gparted
libparted : 2.3

glibmm-ERROR **:
unhandled exception (type std::exception) in signal handler:
what: basic_string::_S_create

I got 3 disks. If i manually choose a disk with "gksudo gparted /dev/sd*": sda scans OK and Gparted starts (on this one sits windows), but crashes on sdb and sdc, which are in linux software raid.

Thinking this is related to 617885.

Try the following which was suggested in the previously mentioned defect:

When opening programs with root privileges you should use gksu. Do 'gksu gparted' and see if this bug is still there.

This bug sounds very similar to and is perhaps a duplicate of bug #609477.

You are right, this seems to be a duplicate of #609477.

gksu gparted also crashes but with different console output:
kamil@kamil-desktop:~$ gksu gparted
libparted : 2.3
