Bug Description

Binary package hint: gpaint

running ubuntu intrepid on an Acer Aspire One A110L.

gpaint cannot be used in a useful way, because its window is extending beyond the lower end of the desktop. Then when clicking on any spot in the drawing area, or the tools area, or the color seletion area, the window is jumping up or down, but the attempted click action is not executed.

Same non-effect for both left and right mouse button.

It is not even accepting clicks on the close-button. Closing with Alt-F4 works.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner.
There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test the current Ubuntu development version (10.10). If you can test it, and it is still an issue, we would appreciate if you could upload updated logs by running apport-collect 300427, and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.

Wonderful! After this bug was reported almost 2 years ago the first action since then is the announcement that it will be closed if no further activity occurs. Is it surprising that I had been expecting some response before I provide further info?

In 10.04 the gpaint window still extends to well below the lower screen boundary on a 1024x600 screen, and therefore is still unusable.

This probably won't show up as an apport detectable bug, and can well be tested on any computer, in particular all netbooks to which the Ubuntu Netbook edition is geared. Simply change screen resolution.

Gpaint isn't one of the faster moving projects (read dead) in the open source world.

An emergency solution is to <Alt> and click + drag the window up.
