gpa: new upstream version 0.7.6 available

Binary package hint: gpa

Several versions of GNU Privacy Assistant have been released since the currently packaged 0.7.0.

0.7.6 was released May 24, 2007.

I wanted to have a look at upgrading this but it seems the source 0.7.6 is corrupt when downloaded from the website.

I used the link http://wald.intevation.org/frs/download.php/350/gpa-0.7.6.tar.bz2 which I followed from the debian/copyright http://www.gnupg.org.

I found the same problem trying to download from the site just now.

I have the file that I downloaded at the end of May available if you want it.

Thanks for confirming the problem. I think to maintain integrity of the packages, it is important that we rely on the files from the official source.

I have logged a bug with the upstream developer about his package and asked him to rectify the problem. I also enquired about the possibility of a new stable release as even 0.7.6 is fairly old.

* Version must be 0.7.6-0ubuntu1
* If you bump compat level to 7 (really needed?), you need to adjust debhelper build-dependency too
* Icon in menu file must be in xpm format
* Apps in menu file is deprecated, please adhere to new standard
* Correct syntax is LP: #160751

Your changelog contains:
+ * Modified debian/gpa.desktop to adhere to standards.
+ - Deleted the upstream gpa.desktop file as it has deprecated options.
and
+ * Removed the upstream gpa.png file.
But this doesn't appear in the diff. By "upstream" here, do you mean Debian? Also, why are you removing the gpa.png file?

If "upstream" does not mean Debian, I don't think deleting the upstream gpa.desktop file is the right approach; I believe you should patch it, so you can send the patch upstream.

I thought to delete the upstream (gpa original) files to avoid confusion, but I take the point that this is not so. I've redone the diff.gz leaving these files in. We still use our own debian/gpa.desktop and I will submit a patch upstream to fix the gpa.desktop.
