Bug Description

After I start goldendict its icon briefly shows up in the tray and then disappears. The window doesn't show up at all.
If I run "goldendict" in terminal all I get is:
Stardict's dictionary reading failed: /home/linux/Dokumenty/goldendict/słowniki/comn_sdict_axm03_Polish_English.ifo, error: No corresponding .dict file was found for /home/linux/Dokumenty/goldendict/słowniki/comn_sdict_axm03_Polish_English.ifo

The program 'goldendict' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadAccess (attempt to access private resource denied)'.
  (Details: serial 469 error_code 10 request_code 33 minor_code 0)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

Everything was fine up until now. I run xubuntu 13.04. The goldendict version is goldendict 1.0.2~git20120929-3

I just installed Goldendict on my mother's machine and it worked. Then i sudo-apt-get-upgraded the machine (there were some libx* updates among others), rebooted it and then Goldendict stopped working.

There is a conflict between XFCE shortcut Ctrl+F11+F11 (switch to 11th workspace) and GoldenDict's Ctrl+F11+F11 (show/hide the main window).

Here's the official GoldenDict issue with more info and a couple of workarounds:

Goldendict works even with Ctrl+F11+F11 enabled. I never had 11th workspace in XFCE but encountered the bug earlier (see comment #2). Is the bug fixed?

For me disabling the Ctrl+F11+F11 shortcut solved the problem.

The bug has just been fixed in the main GoldenDict git repository.

You could either build it from sources or you could use my pre-built packages, courtesy of the awesome service from openSUSE:
http://software.opensuse.org/download.html?project=home%3ATvangeste&package=goldendict

Just select your distro (Ubuntu) and follow instructions for your Ubuntu version to add the new repository. Then just regular 'apt-get update' and 'apt-get install goldendict'.
