When you install gnumeric from Applications - Add/Remove Software with app-install, the documentation package gnumeric-doc is not installed automatically. When you install this documentation package with Synaptic Package Manager or some other way, the help files (manual) will be found from the gnumeric program.

Suggestion for fixing this:

1. app-install should automatically install gnumeric-doc when you install gnumeric.
2. if gnumeric-doc is not installed, gnumeric should report this in it's error message and suggest to install it, possibly with an easy way to do this.

Jaunty still does not install help for gnumeric. This is on an installation from jaunty-desktop-i386.iso dated 01-20-2009.
