gnuit can't install

Binary package hint: gnuit

I want to install git, but ubuntu give me gnuit. I do not want that!
And even worse, It report a bug:
install-info: No dir file specified; try --help for more information.

The message is shown every time when I update. Noisy!

also getting the following, when rerunning apt-get.

figured out a quick work-around, maybe this will give some insight into what happened.
 # echo "" > /var/lib/dpkg/available

available had !<arch> as the first line.
