Bug Description

I'm not sure where the problem lies, but as AqBanking doesn't appear to have a standalone GUI client I'm going to assume the problem is with GnuCash.

Essentially, when you bring up the Wizard via "Tools -> Online Banking Setup..." all user input within the AqBanking wizard is masked with bullets, as though every input field is a password field. This was reported in the forums a few weeks ago but I don't see any other references to the problem.

Screen shots were also posted:

I am having the problem with gnucash 2.4.2 as shipped in Kubuntu Natty; the thread referenced above appears to be running Ubuntu proper.

Separately, if you follow the path "Create User -> Next -> OFX-DirectConnect Backend -> Next -> Run -> Next -> (Bank Name -) Select" and start typing in the "Bank Name" field, the only bank available appears to be "121 Financial Credit Union (666)", but this also demonstrates the text field as password field issue.

Separately again, "... Next -> Run -> Next ...", really!?

Please feel free to split / reassign as appropriate if this isn't a simple fix.

These are both known bugs in Aqbanking 5.0.2-2 and Gwenhywfar 4.0.3 which are the default versions in Debian 2.4.2 and 2.4.7. This is not a problem specific to Gnucash.

Presently, the only known fix (until the repositories are updated) is to download updated versions and compile the programs yourself. Start with Gwenhyfar then Aqbanking, then you will need to rebuild Gnucash to incorporate the updated programs.

The source files for Aqbanking 5.0.14 and Gwenhyfar 4.2.1 may be downloaded here:

Backported packages of AqBanking and Gwenhywfar for Ubuntu Natty are available in my personal package archive (PPA) ppa:micha/libaqbanking on launchpad. You may want to add it to your package management following these instructions: https://launchpad.net/+help/soyuz/ppa-sources-list.html
