Gnote is not properly integrated with Unity

It doesn't seem to be possible to have Gnote as an icon in the Unity panel.

I can't start it other than using the terminal, and my desktop crashed about five minutes later.

This bug is not a duplicate of bug #888274. This bug is about showing up in the notification area (or whatever the right part of the top panel is called in Unity), while bug #888274 is about showing up in the Dash (the left panel).

This bug is not fixed by the patch for bug #888274.

I'm having the same problem. Run gnote, no systray / notification icon.

I think the responsibility of this enhancement is for the Canonical developers.
Before Ubuntu 13.04 I can see the tray icon modifying "com.canonical.Unity.Panel systray-whitelist" but now this is impossible.
