Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-web-photo

Hello,

This installation is
$ uname -a && lsb_release -a
Linux karmic64 2.6.31-16-generic #53-Ubuntu SMP Tue Dec 8 04:02:15 UTC 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu 9.10
Release: 9.10
Codename: karmic

I try to use the gnome-web-photo tool to take screenshots of webpages, but the command fails. The command is
$ gnome-web-photo --format=png http://en.opensuse.org result.png
Load timed out; consider using --force or increasing the timeout (use 0 for no timeout)

This also fails
$ gnome-web-photo -t0 --format "png" -w 2048 http://vg.no result.png

However, some other web pages produce a correct image, such as this
$ gnome-web-photo --format=png -w 2048 http://i1.no result.png

Could someone explain the logic behind this tool. Why include it Ubuntu if it's not ready?
--

BTW: I use it both from CLI and Gscreendump ( http://code.google.com/p/gscreendump/downloads/list ).

How can I help?

Thank you for reporting this bug to Ubuntu. Karmic reached EOL on April 30, 2011.
Please see this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases:

I've tried recreating this bug with Oneiric and was unable to, given the information you've provided. Please either a) upgrade and test or b) increase the verbosity of the steps to recreate it so we can try again.

Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

Hello,
I have tested gnome-web-photo on Precise (32bit Ubuntu 12.04 beta) and it works right. The --format option is no longer available, but that's ok. It always produces a PNG image.

These tests produced a valid image.
$ gnome-web-photo --mode=photo http://en.opensuse.org result.png
$ gnome-web-photo --timeout=12 --force --mode=print -w 2048 http://vg.no result.png
