Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-volume-manager

Ubuntu Lucid show a popup when you umount the drive telling you the drive can be safely unplugged. But if some process locks a file in the drive, it show you a message telling which process and file are locked. But this happens AFTER the popup that tells you can safely remove you drive, in a "race condition". Ive not noticed notting wrong in logs, and i think its only a evaluation problem, but if some detail is needed, i can reproduce it locally.

Steps i did to find the issue:

1) Plugged the pendrive
2) Open a MP3 file with VLC
3) Umounted the pendrive.

Note i have umounted the drive with VLC open because i told to VLC to close, but some vlc process has remained in memory.
