Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome

When pressing PrintScreen the captured screen does not include tooltip windows it contains only grey box instead or nothing at the same place where the tooltip was.

I tried tooltip in gedit (tool-bars, and tab) and I tried applets tooltip.

Note: I am not using 3D desktop

I've tried to reproduce the bug, but I can't do it
I don't have 3D desktop and the screen capture works perfect with many windows opened (tested on Ati X200 Radeon with non-propietary drivers).
We don't know about their video card or amount of memory.

Could you please attach a screenshot with your problem so people can see what goes wrong?

The screenshot shows the issue. However, I was lucky this time because usually the screenshot does not capture the tooltip at all. The screen then looks like there was no tooltip.

The problem is when you press PrintScreen, a command is executed ('gnome-screenshot'). When this command is invoked, is like the control where the mouse pointer is over looses focus, and the tooltip disappear.
A workaround to take screenshots with tooltips is to invoke gnome-screenshot with delay. The delay gives you time to make the tooltip reappears. A way to do this is going to "Applications/Accessories/Take Screenshot" and setting some delay.

Is there any way to make PrintScreen key calls 'gnome-screenshot' in a sort of background to avoid losing focus?
