Bug Description

Hit the PrintScreen key in the Ubuntuized GNOME 2.10.0. Up comes a save dialog
with a preview of the screenshot. There are also two fields, "Name" and "Save in
Folder." Try typing a name *and* path in the Name field (e.g.,
"~/Screenshot.png"). Click OK. Then look for that screenshot file. It will have
disappeared -- the save will have failed silently.

Other GNOME2 apps don't behave this way. Evolution doesn't, for instance, and
Firefox (which I believe is using GNOME2, but I'm not sure) doesn't either. I'm
surprised that the save dialog isn't more standardized, such that it would be
impossible to use non-standard behavior like the Take Screenshot applet does.

Hi Miked,

I am able to save screenshots perfectly in a hardy alpha 4 live cd session. Uploaded it.

Thanks.

Thanks, today, I was able to take a screenshot and save it to a different directory on the same drive, the second hard drive is not installed at this moment. But, when I filed my part of the bug report, I could not save the screenshot on a 2nd hard drive that had free space on it, and my primary hard drive was full. Instead it gave me this error message:

Unable to save the screenshot to disk:

Fatal error in PNG image file: Write Error
error message window pops-up, does not let you change save location
clicking on [o.k.] closes pop-up error message and saving desktop option window.

I would of added a screenshot of the error message if it would of worked, but it didn't.
So, I guess someone can close the bug as it relates to me, as far as changing status of bugs, I get into enough trouble opening, re-opening, and changing status to new from needs info and such, that I will let others double check and close them as they see fit. This bug also has other people who filed it, and dual status, with wishlist and confirmation. but thanks for link to status info.
