'Desktop' > 'Background Location' flickers when changing 'Mode'

Bug Description

If you change the 'Mode' to something else then the 'Background Location' flickers to '(none)' for a brief moment (sometimes more than once). This shouldn't happen - quite simply, it doesn't look good!
