gnome-translate doesn't translate

Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-translate

I installed gnome-translate via the package management inside hardy heron

$ dpkg -l gnome-translate
[...]
ii gnome-translat 0.99-0ubuntu2 GNOME interface to libtranslate

After I installed the application, I start it from the command line and translate the simple string "dies ist ein test" from German into English. Inside the "translated text" frame i see my still untranslated "dies ist ein test" and inside the terminal I find these messages

$ gnome-translate
(gnome-translate:16002): libtranslate-WARNING **: unable to translate chunk using Babel Fish: unable to parse server data
(gnome-translate:16002): libtranslate-WARNING **: unable to translate chunk using SYSTRAN: Not Found

Translating French -> German, German -> French etc fails also. It looks GNOME Translate can translate nothing at all...
