In the new standard version 0.70,there is a small bug with the openoffice menu that appear with black text color (as you can see in the picture),also the firefox userchrome.css is not correct, because the words are selected in the menu remains white.
This happens only with the standard editon(not the dark menu edition).

Thank you for the report and happy New Year!

I'm very sorry to say this but that is a longstanding issue that could not be currently fixed (white menus only). Firefox and OO use some tricks to fake GTK but as you can see they are not working in all the cases. The userChrome.css file can set only the fg color to be white in the menubar but not the prelight state. If you have the knowledge how to fix this I'd be very happy to hear it. If you can you may even make a firefox theme to fix the problems.

Version 0.6.2 has dark menus. The only light ones are the Main Menu and the combo menus. That is why you are probably thinking that it works.

No problem.

On the screenshot I see that the panels are dropping shadows. This may harm the usability and look of the theme. You can turn the shadows off in your compiz configurator in the Wondows Decorations category. In the field labeled 'windows' you should exclude the panel (use the pick tool).

Thanks!

Adding gnome-themes-ubuntu to the list of affected projects as the New Wave theme is now installed by default in the available themes.

I agree but there should be made a differentiation between New Wave and New Wave Dark Menus. The second one does not have this problem and should be selected if you want to to use the OpenOffice.org suite. I don't know if DM is shipped in Jaunty but I hope to get v 0.8.01 updated and used as described in Bug #344953 .

Using New Wave theme from gnome-themes-ubuntu 0.3 (karmic).
Now there is a theme for Firefox called New Wave, installing it, fonts of Firefox menu are white, so it works well. Fixed for Firefox.

Openoffice 3.1 has its fonts dark over dark menu, so it is difficult to see them.
openoffice.org-style-newwave might be necessary.

What exactly is this openoffice.org-style-newwave ? Can you be more specific?

This is a known issue in Thunderbird, and a script to fix the problem has been included in the New Wave directory. If you'll copy

/usr/share/themes/New Wave/userChrome.css

to the directory

go to ~/.mozilla-thunderbird/xxxxx.default/chrome/

Thunderbird should now have white text on a gray background. This fixed the black-on-gray font problem in Thunderbird for me.

Confirming bug too.

Mozilla Firefox is OK.

Would there be a fix in the 10.04.1 version for OpenOffice ?

In Linux Mint, wich has a similar dark theme by default, there is no problem.

Thanks.

Here says a fix has been released https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openoffice.org/+bug/560322

But I just installed Ubuntu 10.04 on a new disk and it's the same old problem for me.
