When using the Human-Murrine-Netbook from package human-netbook-theme, the indicator applet background/text color uses the default window background/text color, not the default panel background/text color.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Please answer these questions:

* Is this reproducible?
* If so, what specific steps should we take to recreate this bug?

This will help us to find and resolve the problem.

do you get the issue with the default ubuntu theme?

@Omer: Yes. Here are the steps:

- In Panel Properties, ensure that "Background" is set to "None (use system theme)"
- 'apt-get install gnome-themes-more human-netbook-theme'
- go to "System>Preferences>Appearance", then to "Theme>Customize...>Controls" and select one of Amaranth, SphereCrystal, Wasp, or Human-Murrine-Netbook
- Notification Applet background will not match adjacent applets, eg. The clock applet, the network manager applet, etc.

@Sebastien: No. But there are other affected themes that I know of, though none are as noticeably affected:

Amaranth from gnome-themes-more
SpereCrystal from gnome-themes-more
Wasp from gnome-themes-more

The notification background has "different" results if I set the background color manually using "Panel Properties>Background>Solid Color" i.e. on Amaranth and Wasp, it will "tint" towards the selected color but not match the adjacent clock and notification area, but on Human-Murrine-Netbook, the problem goes away.

This doesn't affect the "Ambiance"/"Radiance" themes even though they do something unusual with the panel background.

This can be worked around by disabling ~/.gconf/desktop/gnome/interface (by renaming to .bak)

I'm seeing incorrect backgrounds in the Indicator Applet and Indicator Applet session, on a upgraded install of Lucid UNR.

I confirm this bug for Ubuntu Natty Alpha 3. I'm attaching two screenshots while using a theme that has a different color for the panel background and text than the GTK window colors.

Compare the upper indicator applets with the lower window list applet in the screenshots. As you can see the indicator applets look out of place when I'm not using custom colors.

When I do use custom colors the text becomes very difficult to read. This depends on the color I select for the panels but as the indicator applets uses a different color than the rest I would have to pick a different color for panels containing only indicator applets. All other applets except for the indicator applets use the panel colors instead of the window colors.

I did not have this problem with the indicator applet in Ubuntu Maverick.
