In Unity, the "Show Menubar" item in the contextual menu is useless and the Menubar hijacks shortcuts from the shell

Bug Description

In the classic desktop, a user could disable the gnome-terminal menu bar by de-selecting the "Show Menubar" option in the "View" menu or in the contextual (right click) menu.

In Unity, this option is useless, since the menubar remains accessible in the global Unity menu bar.

This is a problem because, when active, the menu bar captures shortcuts that were intended for the shell.

For example, in bash with emacs key-bindings "Alt+F" moves forward one word at a time, but inside gnome-terminal, with the menu bar visible, it opens the "File" menu.

In the classic desktop, hiding the menu bar also stops the capture of "Alt+" combinations, which are sent directly to the shell.

In the pt-BR locale, I have the same problem, but with the "Alt+B" shortcut, which opens the Tabs ("Abas") menu.

I never need the menu bar, since most options are accessible from the context menu (and I rarely use them), but I care about moving fast between words.

One work-around, is to use "ESC, F" (releasing ESC before pressing F) instead of "Alt+F", but it's a lot more cumbersome, specially if used repeatedly.

You can stop gnome-terminal from trapping Alt for the menus in Edit->Keyboard Shortcuts.

I'm not closing this as the menubar not being technically disablable is perhaps a bug (though, really, just a minor cosmetic inconvenience), I'll leave that to the desktop team.
