Bug Description

Reproduce:
 - start "awesome" (window manager)
 - open gnome-terminal
 - hold down "windows"-key
 - drag the terminal window with left mouse button

What I expect:
 - Window should move around and size should stay the same

What I actually see:
 - Window becomes smaller and smaller

Workaround
 - resize the window before you drag it around (Win+RMB-Drag)
 - resize the window to a size that is odd to the height of a character
 - when there is a bit space in the bottom of the window (clientheight is not a multiple of the height of one line), moving will work correctly

Try if the workaround for bug 787465 fixes it for you (sudo apt-get purge appmenu-gtk appmenu-gtk3, re-login).

Might be caused by the same menu proxy.

This "workaround" does not fix anything.

I am subject to the same bug. The first time I move gnome-terminal it will resize.

On a side note: this also happens on my Arch Linux installation where I use Terminator. I found a workaround to though:
In the options disable the "window geometry hints" in the preferences.
Maybe there is a similar option for gnome-terminal...

There is no activity since Friday, 14 March 2014; however they seem to blame gnome-terminal, because for the violation of the rule 4.2.4: "Clients must not respond to being resized by attempting to resize themselves to a better size".

Can confirm on Ubuntu, Arch and Manjaro. Happens with both gnome-terminal and terminator. It's been happening for quite some time (~ 2 years). I'm running awesome inside gnome-session.
