context unchecked "Showmenu Menubar" but Menubar visible on startup

Bug #835331 reported by Murat Uenalan on 2011-08-27

gnome-terminal (Ubuntu)

Bug Description

Then selecting/Checking "Show MenuBar", does nothing (its shown already).
Then again, it really hides (as should be in the beginning) and the menu point is unchecked.

Seems as if the menubar visibility is bound to the manual menu selection (instead of reading from settings) ?

To clarify, after disabling the 'Show menubar by default in new terminals' option in the default profile, new terminals pop up with a menu bar. At this point, 'Show menubar' is unchecked in the view menu. Selecting 'Show menubar' from the menu checks/activates the option in the menu. Selecting/deactivating once more via the menu turns the menu bar off for good.

Launching gnome-terminal with the following options also has no affect:

$ gnome-terminal --hide-menubar
$ gnome-terminal --hide-menubar --disable-factory

status: New → Confirmed

Dear duplicate-robot, this bug description is likely more helpful to gnome developers; Not duplicate, but better merge with bug #787465.

muenalan, feel free to copy the description over to the other bug and leave comments there. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug.

This bug is different than #787465 and is not about the global menu, but about respecting the "show menubar by default" setting not being obeyed.

Jeremy Bicha (jbicha) wrote :

Matthew, this bug _is_ the same as the other bug. The global menu is breaking the Show Menubar option.
