Bug Description
In 'Preferences/
With overlay scrollbar, setting it to 'On left-side' makes the scrollbar vanish.
This option should be removed if it is not possible to set an overlay scrollbar on the left side of a window.

with the 0.2.3 will partially work, but to full support we need to patch gnome-terminal to send info to the scrollbar

Andrea, can you be a bit more explicit? I don't see any properties or functions in the overlay-scrollbar code that we could use. Do you mean have gnome-terminal fake an RTL layout for the scrollbar? (I noticed that the o-s code did respect that setting.)

Iirc we need to patch both the app and gtk to properly Support them. I need
to add that to the fixes for oneiric

Andrea,
do you have some suggestions what to do to gnome-terminal to support a left-side scrollbar? Or should we just disable ayatana scrollbars for gnome-terminal for the time being?
Andrea Cimitan (cimi) wrote : | #7 |
We could path gnome-terminal to avoid putting the scrollbars on the left, or again patching gtk

Seems to me that mainstream gnome-terminal 3.8 removed this option of scrollbar on the left. (Unfortunately Saucy will still ship g-t 3.6.)

oneiric has seen the end of its life and is no longer receiving any updates. Marking the oneiric task for this ticket as "Won't Fix".

Ayatana gurus, is this meant to work with the Ubuntuish scrollbars?
