"Show Menubar" on menu doesn't prevent menu shortcuts

The show menu bar entry in the menu doesn't fully disable the menu for gnome-terminal.

Open gnome-terminal in natty.
Click on the menu at the top of the screen, edit -> show menubar to _disable_ the menu
Note that the keyboard combination ALT+f & ALT+e do not work in the terminal.
Right click the terminal, note that "Show menubar" option is still ticked.
Untick it
Keyboard combinations ALT+f and ALT+e work again.

No program, gnome-terminal included, should have a "Show Menubar" menu item when running on Unity. So the correct fix for this bug is to hide the menu item whenever the unified menu bar is present. <https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MenuBar#detecting>

I've marked this as a duplicate, this is the oldest bug but the description and title here is misleading and I can't edit the latter.

Also to consider is bug 767941 which adds "Edit > Profile Preferences > General > Show menubar by default" to the items that need to be removed if a menuar is detected.
