Ubuntu 10.04 tabs charactes disappeared when copy/paste to terminal

Bug Description

1. open gedit.
2. check if "Insert spaces instead of tabs" unchecked
3. type: ls<TAB>-all
 note: no space chars, just tab.
4. select line, copy to buffer.
5. open terminal, paste from buffer, you will get ls-all
   while ls<space|Tab>-all is expected.

This is really borrowing, when deal with source code...

Happens also for me with gedit > gnome-terminal in Ubuntu 12.10.
