Bug Description

Changing the title of a terminal with Terminal->Set Title... doesn't change the terminal's title as it appears in the window list. This doesn't make it much easier to manage multiple terminal sessions.

Thanks for your bug report. Which version of Ubuntu and gnome-terminal do you use?

This works fine for me on dapper, let we know if you have a chance to try with it

Grey,

Do you still have this problem? I have tried it in 5.10, and I'm not able to reproduce it.

Yep, problem still at large with the most recent 5.10 packages.

What I'm trying to do is change the name of the terminal as it appears in the window list (like the windows taskbar) by using the Terminal->Set Title... option. After I enter a new title into the dialog, the title of the window changes, but the window's entry in the window list remains "grey@erlkoenig:~$"

Moving the window to another workspace (so it disappears temporarily off the window list) doesn't fix the problem for me.

It's not really a huge problem, it just seems inconsistent.

Probably the same issue than http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=324965 which is fixed with dapper, closing the bug since it's fixed. Feel free to reopen if that's still an issue for you with the new version
