Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-terminal

1. Save the attached file
2. Open a gnome-terminal
3. Type `cat typescript`
4. Select lines 1 to 132 (that's the one starting with #19)
5. Choose Edit -> Copy
6. Open e.g. gedit and paste the text
7. You will see only the first 35 lines, the rest has been cut off

I don't think the problem has anything to do with the output being too big. If you open the file in gedit, you can copy and paste it entirely without any problems.

I think this is a duplicate of bug #544358, which fortunately was fixed in upstream six days ago, and waiting to be fixed in ubuntu.

Have you tried selecting all the 132 without holding the shift key?

A workaround is to left-click and scroll with the mouse wheel.

If I select the text without holding the shift copy, the "copy" entry in the Edit menu is greyed out and I can't copy anything at all. I did it all with the mouse.

...so no, this is not a duplicate of #544358, although I'm suffering from that bug as well. But this bug is about the text being copied *partially*.

I see. I'm also experiencing a mix of these two bugs. I experience bug #544358, but instead of the clipboard not being replaced, it is replaced with a truncated version of the selection. Although, no grayed menus here.

I've also experienced a selection created by a click at a starting point followed by shift+click at the ending point to not be copied. When pasting, the previous selection created by dragging over the desired text is still in the clipboard and is pasted instead of the new selection.

I've noticed this behavior in lxterminal and xfce-terminal.
