Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-terminal

I want to pass F10 to terminal application but context menu shows.

Disable menu shotcut key doesn't work either.

You can easily configure this. Edit -> Key combinations -> disable menu key (sorry, if my translation is not quite accurate, I use the german vesion).

As I've already noted, this doesn't work. It works for you?

Daniel Holbach (dholbach) wrote :

Yes it does. For example: using F10 in 'mc' to quit works nicely.

You can reopen the bug yourself. Which version of Ubuntu and gnome-terminal do you use? Which locale and architecture is that?

marking as unconfirmed, that works fine on my edgy desktop. Might be worth being taking upstream by somebody who actually gets that issue

Is there another application running that might create hooks to respond to keystrokes. Beryl uses F10, so maybe that blocks the usage of the key in gnome short-cut configurator.

Actually it's problem of old configuration. On new user desktop it's working fine.

Unfortunatelly, It happens. Even though /apps/gnome-terminal/global/use_menu_accelerators and /apps/gnome-terminal/global/use_mnemonics is off.

This issue still happens to me. I'm running the latest Feisty (updated to all repositories as of 2007-Jun-22).

gnome-terminal version 2.18.0
No other applications are running other than defaults.

Tried restarting gnome (ctrl-alt-bkspace) after making the change. Also tried a shutdown and restart. No difference.

Verified that the values in gconf-editor are unchecked in the locations below:
/apps/gnome-terminal/global/use_menu_accelerators
/apps/gnome-terminal/global/use_mnemonics

What other information might be needed to verify this?

This seems to be fixed in Ubuntu 7.10 "Gutsy". I just re-tested on a fresh install by disabling the options in the keyboard shortcuts and opening 'mc'. f10 (or fn-f10 on macbook) then displays the close dialog.

Is anyone else still having this issue?
