Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-terminal

Do not print in trasparent mode by normal VT command.
When found the sequence esc[5i start a default printer
and print the text, stop when found the esc[4i.
For example the gnome-terminal can create a temporary file
and print it by the command gtklp filetemp....

thank you
Corrado

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.
We have instructions on debugging some types of problems. http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures
At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

How do I do Transparent or pass-through printing (slave printing)?
Many terminals, and just about all terminal emulators, have the ability to do "local" printing. It's sometimes called "transparent printing" or "pass-through", but the idea is that if the terminal sees a special key sequence, it will start sending the data out some other port (parallel or serial) until it sees some sequence that tells it to stop.
You can find the start-stop sequences in /etc/termcap: PN is the sequence to start local print; PS is the sequence to stop. For example, if you look at the vt100 entry, you'll see:
:PN=\E[5i:PS=\E[4i:\
If you have a graphical printer on the linux lan, you can print the text file by ( for example ) gtklp program called by gnome-terminal!!!.
I hope this is more clair.
Thank you.

I don't speak english! Não me mandem mais, email. Eu tirei o S.O da minha
máquina. Gostei muito. Vou comprar outra máquina e instalar um Ubuntu 7.10.
Daí se der bug é mais fácil. Eu acho que os dois sistemas instalados, dá
incompatibilidade. Sem mais,

thanks for the report, are you still seeing this with intrepid or hardy? can you test the same with terminator (the multi terminal emulator) ? that's probably is a vte issue rather than a gnome-terminal. thanks.
