Thanks for reporting this issue and help making Ubuntu better.

I am unable to reproduce this issue on my Saucy system. The keyboard shortcuts zoom in and out as expected, even after changing the colors and background as described.

Have you checked whether the View -> Zoom in/out options work? Could you do that to check whether it is the keyboard shortcuts or zooming all together which fails to work.

View Zoom in/out works; Ctrl-- also works; Ctrl++ prints '==' on the terminal instead of zooming in. Same behavior from with in a vm guest session and bare metal instance. Do we have to explicitly add Ctrl++ shortcut? Did not set up Ctrl-- it worked out of the box.
Thank you.

Thanks for your response.

No, it should not be necessary to add the shortcut explicitly, and it works out of the box here. I wonder whether some other application interfering with/reacting to the ctrl++ instead of gnome-terminal could cause this, but I have no idea what that would be. (Especially since zoom out works without issues.)

Strange - this behavior is seen on my dev env. also - 12.10. I think I
added all the debug dump when I filed this report. I am running a system76
gazelle pro notebook which has ubuntu specific keys built into it.
