Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-system-tools

To make my GPRS modem connection work I need to pass an extra init string (AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","myMTN") to make my cellphone GPRS connection work. There doesn't seem to be a place to enter this in network-admin

Thank you for your bug. Somebody should take that upstream, opening an upstream task to reflect that

I think I have the same problem with a PCI dialup modem. I can make connection work by "sudo wvdial", after I edited /etc/wvdial.conf to be like the attached copy. (I did run "sudo wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.conf" first.) I guess the Init2 string in the file makes the difference. I have tested this by Xubuntu 6.06.1 (Dapper) and 7.04 (Feisty).

Upstream has abandoned g-s-t:

Both tools are bitrotting, and no development is likely to happen on them."

Is this bug still applicable? Did somebody sent it upstream and can provide a bug number?

If this is still in Intrepid/Jaunty, I'd presume it's in network-manager, so I opened it there. I don't see a field in nm where you can enter extra init strings.
