Bug Description

If you use samba, right-click on a folder witch name contains a space symbol. E.g. "Namenloser Ordner" und choose share folder and smb. Notice that only the part of the folders name before the first space is used.

Three example folder in this picture with the smb share window:
http://poweroftwo.de/ordnerteilen.jpg

btw. the problem with spaces in the name is not only there when you try sharing your folder but opening others. In a network with Windows XP someone configured a share, and i was not able to see the folder in nautilus until i asked him to remove the space in the folders name. :-(

regards, Sven

Thanks for your bug. How do you get that dialog? That's not a part of nautilus. What version of Ubuntu do you use?

Changed in nautilus:

That's the dialog that pops up when you select shared folders (or similar, translated it from my local language) in system preferences or when you, as stated above, right click a folder and select share folder (or "Ordner teilen" in german, which is quite a bad translation BTW). Doesn't that come from nautilus?
I can confirm that behaviour, it only happens when using the right click menu however.

This is strange. When I create a new folder like New Folder it works, after I killed nautilus. HRM!

Is this reproducible? (after a restart or relogin)

I've forwarded the issue upstream: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=339689

Seems to be due to a distro patch, comment from upstream:

"I've been investigating, and it seems an ubuntu specific problem, I've been
having a look at your gksudo + shares-admin nautilus extension patch, and it
seems to be messing with quotation marks, try putting the path between
apostrophes (') and it should work fine."
