Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-system-tools

See attached.

Currently in Dapper, n-m displays the name of the Ethernet cards in the main window, which is convenient... and just makes sense.

However I noticed in Edgy that the GUI has been reworked, and (among other things) now the wired interfaces are anonymous, so it's not very practical to know which is which ! ;-)

As a temporary workaround, one can click on the "Properties" button, and look at the window border title, as it does mention the device name.

I tried downgrading the gnome-system-tools package to the Dapper version, but, although it installs fine, when I try to start n-m, it complains that I trype the wrong password, go figure...

bah, you meant network-admin, reassigning and marking as duplicate

Changed in network-manager:
assignee: nobody → desktop-bugs
status: Unconfirmed → Rejected
