network-admin does not store special chars (ASCII) correct in WEP key

Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-system-tools

If entering an ASCII WEP key in the network-admin's wireless interface properties certain characters are not stroed correctly in the /etc/network/interfaces. E.g. "&" are not stored at all, and the rest of the key are omitted. "qwerty&ytrewq" is stored as "qwerty".

I haven't tried with other "special" chars, but manually writing the correct WEP key in the interfaces-file (and using "'s before and after) makes it work.

I am using 2.14.0-0ubuntu9 of gnome-system-tools.

Sorry to "re-open", but I am not sure that this is a duplicate of 27171. 27171 is about the SSID - I am reporting about the WEP key not being saved properly. If the bug affects both these fields it is of course a duplicate - but otherwise not.
