shared folder do not install samba and nfs

Bug #185915 reported by Dzamir on 2008-01-25
Affects Status Importance Assigned to Milestone
gnome-system-tools (Ubuntu)

Bug Description

Maybe this can be a duplicate of bug, but I think it's diffenerent because this happen on Ubuntu Hardy.
I clicked on "Shared folders" and it asked to me if I want to install nfs and smb. I checked both and clicked yes, but it didn't installed nothing and asked me again if I want to install nfs and smb. I did this 3 times.
I think that it can't install smb and nfs because the application need to be unlocked to run as root, but it ask me to install smb and nfs in modal mode, and I can't unlock the application first, so it runs the installer without admin privileges.

Does this problem still occur with all the updates installed in hardy 8.04.1?

This happens to me in Xubuntu 8.10, all updates installed.

I open System>Shared Folders and the Shared Folders app think I need to install SMB and NFS, I opt to install it, it then 'installs it' and keeps asking to install them. Yes it could be because you need to be root to do so. I click Close to close the dialog box asking to install NFS/SMB and I'm able to add a share. Not sure if SMB/NFS are installed but it doesn't ask anymore to install them even after closing the app and reopening.

And does it still happen in Karmic (sorry for asking again, but things have changed in that regard)?
