users-admin cannot create a new user in Lubuntu

users-admin cannot create a new user in Lubuntu. Nothing happens when I click on '+ Add user'

I have tried from the menu and after that from a terminal window without and with [gk]sudo

It works to add a user with the CLI tool

sudo adduser newuser

Same problem in my 32-bit version. Anything in GUI requiring permission seems not to work (bug #1424362) . E.g. I was unable also to change the video driver.

This bug and #1424362 were likely introduced in the beta-versions of Lubuntu Vivid Vervet as alpha-versions both on my 32-bit and 64-bit systems do not show these even after being updated.

Henk, as on the other bug, it would be useful to know if this works with the other desktops environments. If so, we should also check against the older lxsession. Failing that, I'll have to hunt through the manifest more.

No, I installed xubuntu-desktop on top of Lubuntu 15.04 having bug #1424362 and #1429531. This XFCE works w/o bugs since PolicyKit Authentication Agent is ticked on by default. When manually ticking off, these bugs also appear with XFCE DE. Meanwhile this installation has crashed due to last night update and I will have to reinstall beta1 (daily do not work).

If those bugs appear when policykit is turned off, I wonder why its off by
default on Lubuntu.

https://bugs.launchpad.net/lubuntu-software-center/+bug/1424362/comments/13 is a workaround that also seems to fix this issue. So starting the gnome polkit agent to allow for graphical password authentatication is likely to fix this as well.
