Bug Description

I am attaching a mockup of how Service tag and support URL could be integrated to System Monitor, when the system has been detected to be a Dell.

My screenshot doesn't show this but the support URL could also be clickable.

We wouldn't do the logo, but the extended information can be done. But we need to see if it is coming in via hal. As while this information is available via dmidecode, that requires root access.

It looks like it might also be available from HAL output. The serial number is the same as the service tag I thought.

could you give details on what "service tag" and "support url" are, when they should be displayed and from where they should get their informations?

Service tag can be obtained from DMI:

/sys/class/dmi/id/product_serial

As for support URL, it's not stored on the system.

Along Mario's comment. /sys/class/dmi/id/ gives the possablitity to post to the user a lot of different data points about there system.

the current description doesn't have enough details to turn that into code, could you get a design or a spec describing the changes?
