Bug Description
This is similar to bug #187383 but the CPU only maxes out to 100% when you maximise the gnome system monitor window. If you click restore or the un-maximise button, CPU load goes back to normal levels.
Computer is an IBM X23 laptop (866mhz Pentium 3M, 256MB RAM, 40GB HDD) running Ubuntu 8.04 with latest patches as of May 12, 2008

I can confirm this behavior on Hardy.
Moreover, I have noticed that the process that takes up all CPU when gnome-system- monitor is enlarged is Xorg.
Also, it seems that the larger the window, the higher the CPU load.
